When do American Kids go back to school in August?

Looking to do a Florida holiday next year and will have to go in summer hols as we want to do 3 weeks.

Someone on here has mentioned that Disney etc get a little emptier towards end of August as American kids go back to school earlier than Uk kids.

Might vary from state to state (and from counties within those states) but my friend's kids in North Carolina tend to go back round about the 11th Aug, and my other friend in California a week or so later.
Google some schools in the region and check out their website dates. Although remember people fly in from all over for Disney, so it may not help. We went to Universal in LA last year after local schools went back, but it was still absolutely heaving.

Most schools go back at the end of August but it varies widely. The entire state of Virginia goes back in early September - state law.

Also, if they run deals then parents will take their kids out of school to go - no school fines here.

Agreed it varies from state to state. In NYC we go back early September but my friends in Florida go back mid-August I believe.

Yes it varies by state, in NJ they won't go back until after Labor day.
