Before you get too envious - we live in NZ, so it's like winning flights to spain or something.

He had to wear a gondola (cable car) costume for 3 hours, so I reckon he deserves it. I spent two hours making said costume so I am going too.

Just got to decide where we go now. Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Gold Coast.

That sounds fab, Well done your ds

eidsvold · 29/07/2006 07:28

Brisbane of course or the gold coast don't want to go down south ....

eidsvold · 29/07/2006 07:28

see could do gold coast and Brisbane in the same trip - GC is only a little over an hour from Brisbane in terms of driving time.

I've been to all of them, bus ds hasn't been to Melbourne. All the time dh and I were there I kept saying - "ds would love this". So I think I'll take him for a long weekend.

If we make it the family holiday and buy dh a ticket and hire a car and stuff we'll end up spending money we don't have. If the two of us go we can get a studio apartment and eat at McDonalds and do the zoo and museums, trams, trains and maybe go on that steam train thing.

Hi threebob, how are you? Well done to B and to you for making the costume too!! When are you thinking of going?

roisin · 29/07/2006 08:30

Oh wonderful - what a special treat for you both! Have fun!

threebob · 29/07/2006 09:01

I don't know - obviously the school holidays are not included in the prize (daft as most of entrants were children/had children). But they did give away 150 tickets which is a huge number, so I suppose I'll forgive them.

It's become something of a tradition that after our family summer holiday in January I take Bob away for a weekend before term starts back for me. The close out ends on Jan 15th, so I could go right at the end of Jan. Concerned it will be much too warm though!

good point, it would be abit of a shock to the system seeing feeling heat but you never know NZ may actually have gotten a little warmer by then to prepare you. Sounds like a nice tradition to have a break before term. Who ran the competition?

threebob · 29/07/2006 10:23

Air New Zealand - it was a dress up as your favourite Christchurch thing competition to celebrate Christchurch being a city for 150 years.

As neither ds nor I could eat any of the 150 metres of cake it was nice we got something.

Managed to miss the whole thing what with being part of the Town of the Future now and all, glad all your hard work and B's modeling prowess paid off.

eidsvold · 30/07/2006 09:22

if you head to Melbourne at least it will be cooler than brisbane or the gold coast in Jan.

threebob · 30/07/2006 20:04

Deffo Melbourne now - will it be too hot in late Jan/Early Feb?

Air NZ just rang and I have booked it. They will still let me book their cheap accomodation deal even though the flight is being paid for by them. I'm not holding my breath, but sometimes the rates can be great.

Good luck, would be great to get cheap accomodation as well as the flights,

threebob · 02/08/2006 20:02

It wasn't cheaper than booking it direct and I would have had to pay now. So I have booked a room and I will see if anything cheaper comes up at the last minute.
