Iberostar Anthelia Tenerife

We're thinking of going for 10 days. I'm not a great 'sit in the sun and do nothing' person, and neither is DH. Is there much to do for adults?

Anyone have a promo code?

Is it worth the price?

TIA.

Prices are usually cheapest direct on the Iberostar website. They used to have promotion codes, not so much these days, but you might strike lucky if you google.

We stayed once when DS was younger. We had a lovely suite with an upstairs and downstairs and DS slept on the chez lounge thing downstairs so we had our bedroom to ourselves. The breakfast buffet was amazing - champagne and caviar every morning if you wanted them ( sadly I reverted to a boiled egg on toast after day 1 Grin). Kids club looked good although DS didn't want to go and I seem to remember they had reasonable entertainment in the evening - more geared for families and a few things going on during the day.

It's in a great location right beside the beach. You can go for a walk up and down the promenate , visit Mount Teide, go to Caleta for the genuine fish restaurants, but tbh Tenerife is a beach location, I find a week there is enough for me.

Is it worth the price? Well we go to Tenerife every year and we only went the once. We got a great deal on it that year, but prices seem to have risen very steeply to the point where I just couldn't justify it as for October week it was going to cost us £1800 B&B in the suite, vs £600 for a 2 bed apartment on the front. They did have a good new year sale but that's over now, but even with that it was still going to be £1400.

Thanks rookie. That's really very helpful.
My concern is alike you said at the end, it's a beach location. I get a bit agitated just sitting under the umbrella and we are going to go for 10-14 days, depending on cost. I am also considering a Mark Warner or Club Med holiday. At least then I can potter and have a lesson in sailing or windsurfing yeah, like I'm ever going to learn to stand on a windsurf or whatever, but there is another focus iykwim. It's costly so I need/want to enjoy it.
The kids are oth under 10 and are delighted with the sea sand pool and a few new friends.

Anyone have any loactions of Mark Warner or Club Med they've really enjoyed?

Sorry Op for this, Rookie can you suggest which area in Teneriffe would you suggest
Am deciding on May half term, like Op, get really bored with just sea/sand
Would like to visit places of interest on holidays.

Ok - in my capacity as holiday guru Grin.

Lurking - last year my friends went on a Neilson holiday, they said it was the best holiday they have ever had (and my friends DH hates spending time with his DCs, so that is some praise). They went to the one in Greece, raved so much about it that we are looking to go in 2015 as a group. Their DCs loved it and skipped off to learn how to sail, kids club in the evening - but much more relaxed than a normal holiday club.

For adults there was sailing, windsurfing, pilates, aquarobics, zumba or lazing by the pool, sounded great.

Going - to be honest one of the reasons we like Tenerife for an October flop is that there isn't a great deal to do ! We just enjoy pottering along the front, playing at the beach and trying different places for lunch and dinner.
Mount Teide would have been fun if our DS hadn't moaned his way through it.

If you were looking for a sunny break with things to visit then maybe Lanzarote as there are a few Cesar Manrique things to look at and you could do camel riding. Quite a few places would be warm in May that are less obviously touristy so Rome or maybe Barcelona as I know there are some beaches near by you could do a couple of days in Barcelona then off to the beach.

Thanks all. I had looked at Club Med Palmiye and went to book it but they have no interconnecting bedrooms available, (I know, how early do people book? I think I'm early!) so it would have to be 2 separate rooms. I really thought it would be fab for all of us.

Will look up Nielsons now.

Lurking give them a ring, they will sort something out.

Ooh going!! Ring the tour operator or the hotel directly? Hotel? Cos I rang the tour operator and they just said no interconnecting rooms left. I had to ring them, seeing as the club-med site is utter pants.
