Where are you going away to Oct half term?

In a real dilemma of where to go this october half term (Sat 21st October) for a week. DD starts school in September and we all fancy a break after the first hectic half term. Looking for some inspiration!

So, are you going away?
If yes, where are you off to?
And (being a bit nosey/rude here) roughly how much is it costing you per person? And what does that include.

We are thinking Europe - definite abroad rather than UK.
Open as to where and how we get there - fly, ferry, Eurostar, etc.
Trying to keep the costs down a bit, as spend a fair bit on the summer holiday this year. But no budget actually thought of just yet!
Not bothered about laid on activities as such, or kid's clubs.

Help me!!!

I have to go to Malta on business at half term and have always thought it would be a good location for a half term break. The weather is nice and the place is geared up for Engish tourists (but not in a benidorm sort of way).

Egypt is a lovely temperature, not too long a flight (5 hrs). There are some amazing hotels just outside the main part of Sharm. Wow fish, just like Finding Nemo, we are going back again.

October half term?? I don't even know what we are doing with this six weeks summer hols yet.

DumbledoresGirl · 26/07/2006 20:34

Go somewhere really relaxed and laid back Hulababy. The autumn term for he first couple of years at least is so tiring for the little ones, a real marathon for them.

You see if have to think about October holiday as I have already had my summer holiday in June...need something to keep me going!

Have a huge pile of brouchures in front of me to wade through for extra ideas. Thanks for those so far.

How about one of the other continental theme parks , like Europa Park, Playmobil land or Legoland ?

hulababy · 27/07/2006 17:54

Think poor old DH is all theme parked out after 14 days doing the Florida ones! Bless him; I think he is getting old

Hi Hula
We are going to the Bahamas for a week. DS1 turns 12 in November so I thought I would sneak in a last minute holiday whilst he is still 'a child' - or classed as one anyway! The majority of airlines and hotels charge adult prices from age 12. Well that's my excuse anyway. We are taking a Virgin Holidays deal and staying in the Comfort Suites so not exactly five star - but we do have free access to the Atlantis waterpark/hotel/aquarium thingy next door. DH loves diving so this kind of holiday suits him too.
Last October we were so lucky to go to Dubai - MABS is right, it's the perfect time of year to go. Have also been to Cyprus and Turkey during October and the weather was still pretty warm there too.
Let us know what you decide

we are going to puerto duquesa on the costa del sol ... its just south of estepona and the best thing is it is so unspoilt and fairly quiet, as opposed to the rest of the costa del sol. we are staying here
it is costing £200 for the week but obviously there will be travel insurance, a hire car, flights on top of that, which we are yet to book.
