Price gone up online within a day

I searched the FirstChoice website yesterday for a quote and availability, then had to wait a day to check DH could take that week off work, and today the price has gone up by £100.

Is that because the website can tell there is interest on that day? Is there a way to avoid this happening?

Clear your history - someone on here mentioned once that their system (this was Easyjet, or Skyscanner, I think) recognises your computer.

AnythingNotEverything · 07/01/2014 23:28

Surely it'll be your cookies, not your history you need to clear?

Awful practice if it's true.

magentastardust · 07/01/2014 23:30

Yes clear your cookies or try looking it up on another device or your work computer and see if that makes a difference, it can do sometimes.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 07/01/2014 23:31

well it might be cookies or it might be that seats at that price have all sold (it does happen)

but def clear cookies and/or check on another computer

clam · 07/01/2014 23:31

Oh yes! Cookies, that's the one. Blush

But I think they also vary the prices according to interest shown.

SavoyCabbage · 07/01/2014 23:32

Flights do go up in price the closer you get to the date though so it might just be that.

clam · 07/01/2014 23:44

Unless they can't sell them, in which case they reduce prices! It's a hard one to judge.

MilestoneMum · 07/01/2014 23:47

It's for last week in Aug. All the other weeks in Aug say the same price as yesterday, but the day I searched for yesterday and today has gone up.

They have limited places per price level sometimes.

You could try going through Direct Line Holidays, they seem to offer the best deals usually.

shinook123 · 09/01/2014 21:26

A lot of people have been complaining about this on facebook.
School holiday prices are going up by the day mainly due to the school ban on term time holidays.
A lot of places are fully booked already for every school holiday in 2014.
Some people have said some prices have jumped by £300 per person within a day.

Does anyone know how to clear cookies on an iPad.

ihatethecold · 09/01/2014 21:38

Don't worry. I've found it.

birdybear · 09/01/2014 21:51

Def clear your cookies.
