Portugal - villa or apt. August - any recommendations?

We're thinking of hiring somewhere for 2 weeks in August and are considering Portugal. Can anyone recommend any locations or anywhere they have stayed. There will be 6 of us so we need 3 bedrooms, near a beach and restaurants, don't mid if own pool or shared pool but ideally not in a hotel. Having endured our first 'school holiday' holiday last year I am keen to avoid the overcrowding again if possible...

Quinta do Paraiso in Cavoeiro was lovely, they had a variety of villas, some with private pools and gardens.. There is also a large shared pool, kids club, mini golf, restaurant if you want, or you can avoid if wanted. It's a good mix of resort type facilities but with the privacy of a villa.

It's a little out of town, but an easy walk down hill to the centre/beaches etc, bit tougher coming back up though! There are also a few restaurants nearer by.

We stayed at Alma Verde, about 5 minutes' drive from Burgau beach. The children loved it!

Second Carveiro. Lovely area. Vale de Milho has some nice villas with pools.
