Have more or less discounted the Canaries as being too unreliable, weather-wise. Cape Verde as the infrastructure too under-developed (I'll be 23 weeks pg), Dubai as too expensive (I'd like AI in Dubai due to the sheer cost of everything and can't find it for under £4k, £3k or just over would be better!) ditto the Caribbean...

Am I missing somewhere obvious?!

When I was in Dubai, I didn't find much of the history and culture that you speak of though. If there was more of that, I would have liked it more. Its entertainment revolves mostly around shopping malls and luxury hotels.

I'm going next month for 5 days and looking forward to it for a change as never been anywhere like it before. We are staying at Atlantis the Palm and have booked helicopter trip to Ferrari World for the DC and lunch at the Burj. I've done lots of sightseeing/history type places lately so am quite keen to try a Blingy place.

Ranoutof there is heaps of culture I promise!

Creamy, if you do want recommendations got an afternoon of history just let me know.

It's quite an effort getting on and off the palm where Atlantis is, but you are close to the marina which is great for dinners and boat trips....
