Anyone been with either age and are there things to do for the whole family? slightly worried that we won't be able to please both of them.

I went with forty 15 year olds last year (teacher). It is a good base for travel in the area but I think there are better places to be based. The beach is stoney and the sea goes deep very quickly so not ideal for 2.5 year old. Cannes beach is sandy and with shallower waters. I would probably pick a campsite or hotel in one of the smaller resorts along the coast with a pool and other facilities - maybe Frejus. The train line along the coast is cheap and reliable so travel is easy. There is a good aquarium in Monaco which the 15 year olds enjoyed and your 2.5 year old would like as well.

The beach at Juan Les Pins is fabulous for little kids - gently shelving and warm. It's got a bit of a sophisticated vibe though that the older one might like. Like Confit said - the train makes it easy to get about. Provencal market in Antibes, the old town in Nice. Castle Hill in Nice has a fab playground and there is a mini train that goes up there to save the walk.
