London aquarium at Christmas

We would like to take the family to London Aquarium for DDs 3rd birthday. I'm thinking the Saturday just after 21st December.

Has anyone been at Christmas? Will it be madly busy the weekend before Xmas or are people busy christmas shopping? Will the tube be a nightmare?

I absolutely hate the London aquarium. It is, in my opinion, a hideous claustrophobic tourist trap. The penguin exhibition is particularly disgusting.

Have you been to Battersea Zoo, or the Horniman? They are so much nicer and better value.
