minimum child age travelling on the train alone?

My nephews are 12 and 8. Could they do a 20 minute train journey alone if an adult put them on the train and another met them at the other end?

They'll be fine!

They will be fine. DD takes train from Bristol to London on her own from time to time and she's 12.

Yes of course.

Thanks peeps. I was googling for ages on the subject and nothing was coming up!

I would say they would be fine.

List all the stations the train stops at, and then they can count them off - and not miss where they are meant to get off!

Plenty of 11 year olds take the train to school in my area for 20 minutes or more. They will be fine

Yes, they will be fine - depending on their personalities.

I say this because I would not let my 13 and 8 yr old travel alone under similar circumstances because I don't trust them together! I am happy for them to travel alone with the 15 yr old in any combination though.

If the eldest is happy to be in charge of the youngest and the youngest accepts this, all is fine.

You can fly alone at 12 (scheduled airlines such as BA).
