Can anyone recommend things for me to do with my 6 month old DS around Skipton/Leeds/Harrogate/Ilkley/Bradford as my DP works alot and don't really know anyone in these parts? Starting to struggle a little with loneliness/boredom!

Temple Newsam - Home farm, Leeds is excellent, he's a bit young to fully appreciate what's going on but you'll love it great for a picnic and free entry into the grounds with free parking always a bonus.

Oooohhh mumbum. I live in these parts and there is so much to do! You could go to the tourist info offices in any of those towns and pick up a zillion brochures, I do that every Summer cos there is always something new on. But here's a few ideas...
Harrogate- Valley Gardens.. lovely stroll in park and shallow paddling pool is fab and free.
Harlow Carr Gardens too. The Play zone (I think thats what its called.. great indoor play area)
Ilkley- the park, Bolton Abbey (nice tea rooms at both ends), Hesketh Farm at Bolton Abbey. Embsay Steam trains.
Skipton- the Canal barges and feeding the ducks. A big bird of prey sanctuary not too far away.
Bradford- St leonards Farm Park at Esholt

Go join some mums and toddler groups even tho ds is too young too walk! You'll make new friends as they all come to coo over your little one.
Hope this helps!

Come and meet us at Cannon Hall near Barnsley on 20th July! It's not far off the M1! Have a look on the meet ups board (can't do links)

Have you looked at Netmums website? The forums are a bit iffy but they have loads of info on days out/baby groups.

6 months is a bit young, but Eureka (the museum for children) in Halifax will be great in a couple of years' time. (My dds are now 4 and 6 and love it, but probably first went when they were 2 and 4 and there was plenty for them to do even then, although a certain amount is lost on them at that age obviously.)

Nearby is also Shibden Park. It's a park with the usual play area (but a very good one) plus a boating lake, little train ride, and in the summer merry-go-rounds and things. Take a picnic, though, cos the food in the little cafe is naff.

Again, when your ds is a bit older, Tropical World in Leeds is nice. It's in Roundhay Park.

Also second Bolton Abbey, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Cannon Hall, etc.

Had a fab day out today at Chatsworth, though that's a bit further afield (probably an hour and a half south of Leeds).

ilkley has a neverending stream of walks or coffee shops . Go out pretending have an aim - go straight to one of many coffee shops ( one more as of monday) end up on a caffiene high along with the rest of ilkley who ALL seem to have a baby and be expecting another!

Newby Hall and gardens is a lovely day out, don't know if it's too far out for you but it's in Ripon. Take a look at this link Newby Hall or Harewood House is lovely too. Harewood House just off the ring road.
