Well thanks to the rave reviews from Mumsnet we have booked a week in Lefkas (taking dd out of school, v naughty) week after next., hurrah.

but i have a couple of qusetions for those who have been.
shoudl I take a buggy? we have a three year old and a five year old and I was hoping not to.

evening meals - are there tavernas close by? the plan(ha ha) is for kids to spend morning in kids clubs (they hated club med ones so I am nervous about this) then sleep in the afternoon with us and stay up late and go out for supper. Is this bonkers? have done greece a lot but pre kids. and never lefkas.

also any other Mousses tips really really appreciated.
very excited, really hoping this actually feels like a holiday.

Well we have just got back from our week - Mousie we were in the same villa as you!

We had a great time, no mossies (didn't spray, didn't see one), no wasps (hurrah!), it was so relaxing.

we had such a fab time. i loved our appartment adn will try and book it again - liked the privacy of being detached and also felt safe having the odd uninhibited row with DH!

will go last two weeks in august next year I think, as soon as I can book it up.
glad you had a good time Countess, and thanks for all the pre holiday tips

Hi - I am new to Mumsnet and am a busy mum of 4 under 6. I am about to book a holiday to Mousses in Lefkas and have been following some of these threads with interest. My one big question (which Thomson dont seem able to answer) is ' will the partment be big enough? The children are 5, 4, 3 and 1 (so one in a travel cot). If the answer is no, do I have any alternative?

Many thanks for any help you can give - I need this holiday!!

willow2 · 09/01/2007 14:17

Provided they can put extra bed in twin room, so that you cn fit the three oldest in there, and then have travel cot in with you, you will be ok. Otherwise one of the kids will have to sleep on sofa in open plan living area downstairs, which would be total pain unless you like going to bed at same age as your kids!

bagheera · 09/01/2007 16:59

thanks Willow - am getting very mixed messages from Thomson when I call. The website says that if I book Castor or Pollux, it can sleep 8 / 9 (3 doubles, and a double and single sofabed). However, Thomosn says it is only contracted to send a maximum of 6 to these villas. I want to travel with a single mum friend of mine and her daughter (who could use the side entrance bedroom together)- but it seems Thomson wont allow it - even though there is obviously the space. Is there any way around this? Can I book with the owners directly? Many thanks for any guidance you can give

willow2 · 10/01/2007 22:40

Pollux is enormous - have stayed there past two years. Massive double, massive twin, sofabed (if not 2) and then separate twin. Simply Travel rent it also and you will get better answers from them - even though now they are owned by Thomson they are nowhere near as knowledgeable as they used to be. Call 0208 541 2202. Don't know what Thomson are on about tbh. Mousses houses are sold as 5 occupancy, I believe, so there is no way Pollux can't take 8. Castor is identical in layout so also easily big enough.

bagheera · 11/01/2007 20:36

Simply are adam, ant too that they will only take a booking for a maximum of 6 people - and I need 7! Happy to pay whatever extra is required but Simply say no can do. Do I have any other options? Other agents? Book direct?

willow2 · 11/01/2007 21:18

That is so weird, what is the point of advertising that it can sleep 8? Email Eleni, the owner, directly via the website - www.moussesvillas.com/ - might be able to book it directly but not sure if Simply/Thompson have some deal where they book the whole place outright. I know that last year she was only able to take bookings a few weeks in advance because of this arrangement.

willow2 · 11/01/2007 21:20

Anyway, surely your one year old doesn't count as far as occupancy is concerned? Bet if there were only 6 of you, including the baby, you would have to pay an under occupancy supplement!

willow2 · 11/01/2007 21:22

PS: CAT me if you want, I have an idea that might help.

bagheera · 12/01/2007 15:35

Sorry to be dumb - but whats CAT!!

willow2 · 12/01/2007 19:19

contact another mumsnetter - see top right. You can email me via MN HQ.

Helennn · 14/01/2007 13:31

Can anybody tell me how to get to Lefkas? I don't seem to be able to find any flights, or even find it with Thomson holidays. I have looked up the Mousses own web-site, but it unfortunately does not help with flights. We would be flying from the South-West, ideally Bristol or Exeter. It does look lovely!!!

100PerCentCod · 14/01/2007 13:31

flights to preveza

100PerCentCod · 14/01/2007 13:31

they only go fom gatters

Helennn · 15/01/2007 11:37

Thanks for reply - long way to drive to Gatwick from Devon! Damn

Pollyanna · 15/01/2007 19:24

I would be interested in your solution, Willow. Simplytravel have told me today that they will not let me have an apartment for 4 children, even if one is in a cot, if the one in the cot is 2 or more. It would save me alot of money to go to an apartment.

noonar · 15/01/2007 20:33

hi pollyanna try speaking to olivia at simply travel. she is SO helpful. we are going again this year. the apartments are easily big enough for 4 children, but you wouldnt get 4 in the twin room, though. good luck. maybe you should say you co- sleep with your youngest?!

Pollyanna · 15/01/2007 20:56

when are you going Noonar? I will try speaking to Olivia tomorrow - I have a villa reserved atm and am tempted to go with that just for the comfort ( at the expense though!)

Pollyanna · 15/01/2007 23:14

bagheera simply travel told me on the phone today that they would put 4 children in one of the apartments if the youngest was under 2.
