I am trying to book a surprise break for dh's birthday. We haven't had a holiday for 5 years & the past year has been a tough one,so he deserves it.

I know he'd love to go to Rome,so does anyone have any reccomendations on nice hotels, preferably not to expensive?

Thanks

We stayed in \link{http://www.kirkerholidays.com/Hotel.aspx?Hotel=1628\this hotel} travelling with the holiday company whose website this is. I don't know whether that is in your price range but they do do other hotels for different prices.

It was a nice hotel - nothing special and only did breakfasts, no other meals, but that was all we wanted. And it was excellently placed for most of the sights.

Yes, Hotel White near the Trevi Fountain. Great location, does breakfast, other restaurant next door, can walk everywhere from there even the colloseum.

Well,I've booked it & am feeling pretty pleased with myself.I couldn't find details of the hotels mentioned here on Travelocity & their packages were about £570 for 2 nights with an indirect flight via Paris or Frankfurt.

So I booked flights & hotel separately & got direct flights from a local airport plus 3 nights in a very luxurious looking hotel for the £326 for the two of us.We are going in November & I will put the details in dh's birthday card on Thursday.
