Where to go in the Uk without a car?

We are looking at going away early july next year. We don't currently drive so needs to be train accessible. Looking at around 2 hours ish by train from Chester. We have two dc who will be 3 1/2 and about 15 months so need to have some things to do nearby ish if we have poor weather all week.

We have a budget of about £350, as we have priced up a static caravan in Rhyl but hoping to go slightly further afield but a bit clueless or anywhere other than the North Wales coast.

Doh - was just going to mention North Wales. The coast from Barmouth up to Pwhelli is all on a train line and there are loads of static caravan sites all along the coast. You can go via Shrewsbury and an adult return Chester to Barmouth is £41 each but takes 3 and a half hours.

I find it difficult to recommend Rhyl.

the Barmouth coast is beautiful although you may have a fair walk from the station to your accommodation. Might also be worth considering getting an online food delivery.

also how about Llandudno?
