Puerta Pollensa in north of Majorca is great for families, especially has lots of villas just Google villa holidays in majorca or try big cos like James villas or thomson villas with pools. Town is nice big square with lots of restaurants around it lovely prmoenade along side the beach nice beaches and easy to travel along north coast to some quiet beaches lovely scenery - far far away from magaluf!

Beetroot · 14/06/2006 08:54

Beety-so sorry. Got waylaid by small boys last night!!
Our house is in San Jose in Ibiza and it's the most gorgeous village. Right in between San An and Ibiza Town. Little bars and restaurants and the kids will be safe and happy (there's even a little playpark with a fab reataurant right next to it, so there's your evenings sorted)
My best friend also has a stunning house in the village which is available for rent but we will be there all of August. Don't know when you wanted to go??
Ibiza is a beautiful place and gets a very bad press. You can completely forget the chavtastic San Antonio even exists if you want to. Though I love nothing more than sunset at Cafe Mambo and my boys (9 and 6) are happy as larry watching all the sights and sounds.
Ibiza Town is beautiful. Portinax is nice but a little too "packagy" for me. Anywhere up north is stunning but a little too off the beaten track for me TBH. I prefer to be in the South West.

Envy I want to go now ! We used to go to Es Cana & Sta Eulalia - have they changed much over the years ?

spook · 14/06/2006 14:57

Hi Whizzz. Only really been to Es Cana for the Hippy Market and there seems to be a profusion of sunburnt plump brits. Sta Eulalia is still lovely-full of ex-pats and yachts!

Whizzz · 14/06/2006 15:00

I have a mate who lives in Sta Eulalia. Never fancied going back though - too many good memories from years ago - don;t want to be disappointed.

hoxtonchick · 14/06/2006 21:36

hey spook, you can go to my friend's bar too! it's called raco verd. they've only just taken it over. she's called clare.

spook · 15/06/2006 07:31

Hey Hoxtonchick!!! Thats my favourite bar (also known as the Juice Bar) That is soooooo cool. I'll be there most days-its 2 mins from the house. Have you been? The garden is my boys favourite hangout.

hoxtonchick · 15/06/2006 09:46

brilliant, spook. no, we haven't been yet, planning to go in the autumn. they love ibizia, i'm very jealous :).

Beetroot · 15/06/2006 10:14

We hope to go on Uly/august for 2 or three weeks

marina torrenova in palma nova (more torrenova really!) is absolutely gorgeous. plenty for kids to do . close enough to amenities without being in the centre-be prepared for a bit of a walk up to the hotel but you do get used to it!) went in May with Thomsons and could not fault anything--and we're pretty fussy!

Beetroot · 15/06/2006 10:30

cutekids, they have thompson entertaiment though!!???

Don't know it as such but think it's the peninsular between Alcudia and Puerto Pollensa. Puerto Pollensa is lovely - good beach, restaurants, no night-clubs, nights centred around the restaurants. Good weekly market. Old Pollensa town (a bit further inland) is quite Spanish.

Don't know Alcudia at all - think there is a quieter port and a more lively tourist part which is spread along a very long beach.

The drive up from the airport is easy - good road, some dual carriageway.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 15/06/2006 18:25

Think GDG has just come back from Puerto Pollensa.
