Birthday treat - 6yo possibly crafty fun???

So DD1 has always enjoyed home birthday parties. Great, been fun. DC2 not so much, so instead, we did a family trip to Legoland for 4th b'day. All good. So good that DD1 would now like a family trip too instead of a party for 6th birthday, and possibly with something crafty / sewing involved. And despite googling for hours, I'm completely stuck!

Was thinking possibly a museum with a getting stuck in section but can't find anything beyond basic colouring / sticking (London Museum of Childhood) or drawing (National Gallery). All the art schools seem to be dead serious and don't run kid options. I want it to be a bit special as Legoland was obviously lots of fun all round, but don't want to spend a fortune. We also got a good deal for LL!

Has anyone got any ideas??

Science museum in Birmingham is very hands on.

Thanks for responding. We're a bit further south than that I think, would be quite a long day otherwise.

We wondered about the Science Museum in London, but I think she'll view it as a not very well disguised chance for DH to have loads of fun and she'd rather be creative without the boundaries! We'd love to take them but probably just as a special treat sometime rather than for her birthday.

Yeah we did it with an overnight stay and did both, so it was a big birthday treat. Birmingham is a lovely city too. Well worth it. My dc keep asking when they can go to Birmingham!
