What do you spend your airmiles on?

We've got several thousand - they keep racking up. But whenever I look at the offers they don't look particularly tempting: i.e. by the time you've paid the taxes/extras the European flights don't work out any cheaper than Easyjet.

Do we just keep saving up for years until we have enough for us all to go to Oz?!

Roisin,my sentiments entirely.
We travel loads (as dh works abroad) and yet in spite of all this, all our airmiles seem to buy is something like a mid SOctober break in Berlin with a £500 surcharge.

Great.

I've never had that many. Managed to save up enough (over about five years or something) to pay for flights for me, dh and two of the kids to travel from Edinburgh to London and back a couple of years back, but aas you say once you included taxes etc, it probably would have been just as cheap to go by Easyjet.
Since then I've spent them on tickets for the London Eye for dd and I (went to London by Bargain Berths sleeper not by plane though Wink) and on a crate of wine :):):)
As I've changed where I shop I never really get the oportunity to save enough to do anything much with them again.

Moondog - I'm glad I'm not the only one!

We have been on the London Eye using them - at least twice, possibly three times! But I really don't want to go on it again Grin

I was thinking yesterday that these miles are rubbish.
Is it only Airmiles you can sell on ebay or can you sell BA Miles and Eurostar miles too?

Piffle · 06/06/2006 22:33

We're saving up to get a trip to NZ in a couple of years, we have about 12,000 we are very canny about buying things from partners, buying everything on the credit card and collecting the miles, then paying it off in full, we even offer to buy things for other people then get them to give us a cheque Grin like PIl and my mum etc...
Dp books an awful lot of company expenses quite high cost things so we rake them in
And since Boden is now an Airmiles partner - well...

moondog · 06/06/2006 22:52

Can you use them to pay for an upgrade??
