Apartment Hotel Recommendation - Manhattan, NY

Can anyone recommend an apartment hotel in Manhattan, suitable for a couple and 2 year old.

We have been advised that airbnb.com and vrbo.com which advertise short term apartment rentals are problematic as rentals of less than 30 days are actually illegal in NYC.

So we are looking for an apartment hotel...just don't think it'd work for us to be cramped in a hotel room.

Any recommendations?

I'm afraid I don't know what an apartment hotel is, but can recommend the Broadway Plaza hotel, we've just had 5 days there.

An apartment hotel is basically a hotel of mini apartment suites. You get a bedroom, and then a separate living area with kitchenette. Still have the services of a hotel with room cleaning, room service, breakfast etc etc but just gives you lots more space, and means your little one has space to play and can go to bed in the bedroom so you can close the door and be chilling and have friends round in the living area.

We did it earlier this year, and it was fantastic. The place even had a really well equipped mini market just off the lobby so everything was on site. Felt like a holiday as came back to a lovely clean and tidy room, but we had the flexibility of having the kitchen so we could give our little one breakfast as soon as he woke up, and sort ourselves out for dinner etc. The space is also great - when you have buggy, travel cot, toys etc, a hotel room can fill up really quickly!

Embassy Suites may have what you are looking for. They also do breakfast as part of the room rate.

Hotel Beacon apartments on the Upper West Side were perfect when we stayed there with children. Nice apartments, directly opposite a fab supermarket (Fairway Market) and two mins walk to Central Park. Wouldn't stay anywhere else with children now

Most of the Affinia chain are aparthotels and they have several throughout Manhattan. We stayed at the Affinia Dumont which was great - the Affinia Manhattan is also meant to be very good.
