stage 1 car seat AND buggy

Travelling with Jet2.com in August to Madeira from Manchester.

Last year we travelled to Madeira with Jet2.com from Leeds/Bradford and they happily accepted our light buggy and infant car seat in the hold.

I ama bit concerned that Manchester staff may take a harder line, especially as this year we have a stage 1 car seat to take as well as the same buggy. Limit is 10kg for both.

Anyone done something similar - take buggy and stage 1 car seat on a airplane?

If you have scales I would weigh both items. Jet2 will charge excess baggage fees if the combined weight of both items is over 10kg.

Both buggy and car seat are likely to be placed in the hold in any event.

Is the car seat really necessary?. I ask this as taking a stage 1 car seat onto a plane can be problematic in its own right. It may well not fit the aircraft seat so it will be placed in the aircraft hold.

We're not using it on the aircraft. It is for use abroad and I do not want to use a car seat in Madeira that I do not know the history of.

I know the car seat can go through to 'Excess Baggage' at check-in - don't think that's a problem, just the likelihood of being able to do it without being charged excess. I know that the buggy (7.5kg) and the infant car seat was well over the 10kg allowance last year but they never batted an eyelid.

We really need the car seat and would pay regardless but would rather not! Wink
