Car seats and Car hire France - Advice please...

Dear Mumsnetters,

I'm trying to organise a last minute summer holiday in France. Its suddenly occurred to me that with our car hire we will be without our own car seats for our two children (aged 3 and 4). Does anyone know a way around this?

Our car seats that we use at home are enormous and if possible I want to avoid taking them out with us. Is there provision in France for booking car seats when hiring over there?

Any good companies that you can recommend?

Thanks so much,
Flatout

Car hire car seats can be terrible. I would always try to take my own seat if possible. Are they big enough for booster seats?

Take them. We had major issues with a worldwide spectable company in a country where we speak the language. Since then I always take DD's own.

We hired carseats with a car from avis. However, they came with no instructions and the car hire woman wanted to fit the seat facing forward for 8-week-old dd Confused. Luckily it could be fitted backwards-facing too.
