There will be 8 of us 4 adults 4 children. Trip adviser is driving me crazy! It is for December. I don't mind a hostel but the YHA I stayed at 20years now doesnt look great. price up to £100 a night (I know I am dreaming) per room

our favourite was a place called Hotel Nestle, left bank, not sure you can book in advance but great location, all rooms painted with murals, huge shower room you can fit the whole family in at once, roof terrace with geese on it, and breakfast is bread and hot chocolate eaten crossed legged on the floor.. now this was a long time ago! i am not going to google it as i will either be disappointed it has gone/changed or just yearn to return!

Try booking.com, i just put in an arbitrary date in july for two adults and two children per room and found rooms for £94.47 per room per night...

I stayed in a kyriad which was ok and deffo cheap. Nothing fancy but clean and comfy enough.

Have you considered renting an apartment instead? We always stay withthis company. Cheaper (or at least as cheap as) an hotell and much nicer - Paris hotel rooms are always tiny (especially cheap ones). I would definitely check these out.
