Anyone know Germany for music venues?

I want to get DH tickets to see a German band he loves playing in Germany in Jan 2014.

They are playing in quite a few places but I have narrowed it down to;

Hannover
Berlin
Stuttgart
Dusselfdorf
Hamburg

Can anyone give me an idea of which one might be good in terms of ease of getting around, nice place to stay for a few days, general cost of eating out etc.

I have never been to Germany and it may be that they are all much the same.

Re band tours, is the last night of an anniversary tour likely to be any more special than any other night?

He is going to be sooo chuffed as he is 50 next year and is so so hard to buy for.

I lived in Dusseldorf for a short time when I was 19. Great transport links, great bars, nice shops, on the river Rhine, also it's not too huge to find your way about.
