How to pay deposit in euros?

We are staying in a French gite in August and have to pay a deposit in euros. Advice most welcome on which is the best way of paying, in order to incur as few fees / additional costs as possible.

The company has given several options:

via debit card on their website

via bank transfer - they have a SWIFT/ IBAN number - not entirely sure how this works but I imagine it's pretty straightforward with internet banking.

via cheque (but presumably I can only write cheques in pounds not euros?)

Which is the best method? Or are they all the same?

Thank you for any help - we haven't been abroad for years so can't remember how to do this Smile!

We always just pay via bank transfer

A cheque won't work as UK cheques can't be issued in another currency unless the account is in Euros.

Internet banking: it depends if your bank let you pay in a different currency. If it doesn't work then go to your branch, they can do it but it may cost around £20-£30. Check before you pay online.

Credit card: should be the most straightforward one, like ordering from a European Amazon instead of Uk and your bill will be converted into £.

Would go for the card option.

The bank transfer cost will cost you around £20, although you could lower that to about £9 by using a service like Hifx. You could only write a cheque in Euros if you have a Euro bank account, not a normal UK one.

Another option might be to see if they will take Paypal.
