How much does a one week all inclusive holiday cost?

I´m not an extravagent person. DH wants to fork out 1,400 pounds for an all inclusive holiday for one week for us and baby, including some childcare. I think this is a lot of money and we must be able to get something similar for cheaper. Please let me know how much you pay for a one week all in summer holiday. I can´t be bothered to look through all the brochures and work out the prices. Cheers!

It would totally depend on when and where you were going, how old baby was and which airport you were flying from.

LIZS · 12/04/2006 13:38

Sounds perfectly possible as a cost for you all. If it is all inclusive and you have apartment style accommodation you may well get charged under occupancy for the unused potential beds. Where, when and which operator is it with ? You may benefit from booking the same thing direct.

I can't be bothered to give you any help either.
Cheers!

what date, where from ,what star rating accom

need to know all these, prices vary throughout the year.

TravelFiend · 12/04/2006 14:40

August, 4 star hotel with 2 bedroom suite, no travel included (have this more or less free anyway!) childcare for a toddler.
Just want a basic idea of how much an average package costs really, even without the childcare.

Where?

HandbagAddiction · 12/04/2006 15:20

I think 1400 is a bargain for what you're looking for personally......

annh · 12/04/2006 15:35

Aug is peak season so it sounds like a bargain to me too, particularly with 2 bedrooms. In fact, where is it? Maybe more of us want to go?!

Hattie05 · 12/04/2006 15:38

Sounds pretty cheap to me, esp for August.

Go and look on some holiday websites.

bubblerock · 12/04/2006 16:19

Do you really need 2 bedrooms with just a toddler? You can bring a 1 week accommodation only break AI down a hell of a lot if you choose 1 bedroom. Also - you need to tell us where you are looking as that makes a big difference.

bubblerock · 12/04/2006 16:22

who are you anyway? Are you new or a name changer, just noticed it's a new name Smile

LIZS · 12/04/2006 16:35

Sounds about what we paid for 4* accommodation in Majorca for a week October last half term for 2 adults and 2 kids. Not childcare as such though, just a hotel kids club.

Corrin · 12/04/2006 16:54

Hi
I've just booked an all inc. for a week in May with Mark Warner. That's for two kids (1 and 3), with flights/transfers & Childcare etc. £1800 (that's with £500 discount). Personally, from the looking around I have done, £1400 is not unreasonable...depending on who you're going with. August will be exp too...(not to mention hot...!!). Grin

Hi ladies, yes I am a name-changer (how on earth do you notice this???!!!) Are there so few of us?
The hotel is one of the kinderhotels in Austria (advertised everywhere on mumsnet at the mo!). Can´t remember the name, but all seem to be more or less the same price)
I don´t necessarily want a 4 star holiday, just somewhere not completely overrun by tourists and somewhere by the sea. Something inbetween Mark Warner and Butlins. Looked at a week in a caravan with Canvas Holidays and found a week in a tent alone cost 750 pounds! Do people really pay that? And that was without the ferry etc! Why?
So, just names of travel companies would be good as a starting point! I vaguely thought Thomson and Tui might be good. What do you think?

cod · 12/04/2006 20:06

£32.50

TravelFiend · 12/04/2006 20:07

yep thats the ccost

crunchie · 12/04/2006 20:37

kinderhotels look lovely though. I wouldn't begrudge the cost for that tbh. It would be mega relaxing too. If your dh wants to pay for it, let him :)

bubblerock · 12/04/2006 20:51

Have you looked at Bulgaria? I haven't been but I guess it would be a bit different to Spain, Greece etc..

\link{http://www.medhotels.com/book/hotel_description.asp?HID=20040504114919687847&Lang=EN&Popup=yes&b=1\This} Hotel is 4 and for 1 week, 2 adults/1 child on an All Inclusive basis in August in a family room it is £577.04*

TravelFiend · 12/04/2006 20:59

That´s a good price isn´t it! Do you know the company, this Medhotels? Bulgaria is going to be the up and coming place to be I think, but don´t know much about it. Any fans out there?

I haven't used them but they were recommended on another site. Have a look through the different destinations with them, the prices are really low!
