Hi,
Such a shame we didn`t meet up in the end! Every time I was in the Spar shop I kept wondering if you were there! Had a fab time at Whitfield House, great place apart from the stairs! Mr and Mrs Shepheard are lovely people, and we all loved Skye their dog! Smashing village, everything you want is there, we also made ourselves known at the library and they said next time we come we can take out books to save me taking a boat load up.We went to the Durham Dales, Stanhope, Beamish, Harperly POW Camp, Durham, Tunstall Reservoir, and visited my brother at Spennymoor, and did Whitworth Hall deer park! So sorry we missed each other, must do it next time! Oh, fab fish n chips too!

Just found your posts, a bit late, I am completely useless. Yes, I am QW, I seem to have outed myself on the other thread. A bit of a pain as Wolsingham is small so anything I rant on about is now identifiable. I have moved to this thread as I don't want to change my name and don't want to bump the other thread up. Remind me never to be a spy!!

Sorry to hear about the fight, especially as one of my rants is how bad the attitude of the locals is to teenagers and how they are all nice lads!! So I asked ds2 (16) and he says he thinks he saw it. Was it outside Spar or in the middle by the benches? And were they big lads? ds says there is a lad from Crook who comes to pick fights and hits people for no good reason and that is what he saw. Wolsingham certainly isn't a violent place, ds and I think the Spar girls were overstating the case quite a lot, I have never seen a fight. I suppose Wolsingham is big enough to have all sorts and they aren't as easily avoided as in the suburb of a city.

Glad you had a good time and I really hope you come back because it would be good to meet. There are holiday cottages at Bradley Burn Farm run by Judith Stephenson, she is a friend of Margaret Shepheard's. It is just outside Wolsingham (1 mile maybe?) on the road to Crook. Too far to walk to the shops but not many or no steps.

That's all for now, sorry again for being so disorganised. xx

Hi,
Sorry not to have replied sooner, computer packed up so here I am on our smart new one, couldnt be with out one I get withdrawal symptems! Yes the fight was outside Spar, around 19.45pm on Sat 1st. They were big lads, certainly not young teens, and the lad getting the good hiding was a whopper! Anyway apart from that as I said we really loved the village and had a great time. I wouldnt want to stay outside, its really nice being able to pop out for bits, and not have to drive, are you in the village then? Hopefully we will meet next time, and keep in touch.
