Alternatives to France - villa hol 2013

That's it really. Going with two other families next summer, starting looking at France but know it's expensive once you are out there do wondered where else would be good.

Needs reasonably cheap flights, sun, villa with pool, sun, nice countryside, sun, good local markets, sun etc.

Hi there, I wouldn't rule out France, its our favourite location in the summer, we had a great group holiday near Sarlat a couple of years ago and its not expensive at all when you get out there - darn it just tried to find the link for it but can't remember where we stayed. If you are interested will ask my friends if they remember - it was a lovely villa with 6 bedrooms and a pool.

You can fly there from Bergerac, and there is loads of things to do, castles, markets, caves, beautiful gardens - the weather is hot but not unbearably so. Cost of attractions is much cheaper than UK as is eating out.

We all went to Tuscany this year, and whilst the countryside was lovely, it was blisteringly hot and there were very few sights of interest to children.
