Flying long/short haul - flight bag for pram??

Hello All

Hurrah; just booked flights to SA with VA and internals with SAA to show off little Darcey to her very excited Grandparents.

However...........

We want to take our Sola and understand we may hand this over at the plane to the hamfisted baggage handlers so am wondering if there is such a thing as a bag for a pram to sit in and give some form of protection from bumps and scratches and to keep it clean?

Anyone know of anything to suit?

Thank you kindly for any help and suggestions

is it an umbrella fold pushchair? If so this gets good reviews

vodkaanddietirnbru · 04/09/2012 19:11

This looks like it would do for a pushchair that wasnt umbrella fold

DarceysDaddy · 04/09/2012 19:12

Erm, umbrella fold? I take it this means a pram that fold up like an umbrella?

Sorry, all a bit new to this parenting thing!

No, it kind of collapses onto itself - it isnt a pushchair but a pram as Darcey will only be 3months old when we fly.

Thank you kindly for the help

Does it collapse into a square shape rather than going all long and thin? The second link might be best then

DarceysDaddy · 04/09/2012 19:17

Damn, Vodka!

You are good :D

That looks like it may work - best get off and investigate that!

Thank you kindly

This may be an option too. I searched for pram travel bag.

DarceysDaddy · 04/09/2012 19:34

The one I found and this one look just too small - was hoping something in light nylon fabric like the JL job

May Just get it and see if it fits........fingers crossed!

We too our ds on his first flight when he was 3 week old in July. We bought the stokke pram bag it fits 99% of pushchairs and is fab. Even fitted out bugaboo donkey in it along with the carrycot with room to spare. It is expensive but in our opinion well worth it. No problem with it at the airport just checked it in and had to take it to over sized luggage. Well worth the money in our opinion we spent a lot of money on our pram and disn't want it ruined in the first month of having it.

DarceysDaddy · 04/09/2012 19:56

Thank you , Florin

That seems another option albeit looks to be for checked-in luggage?

We will just take our pram through (Mamas and Papas Sola) and leave at the plane steps - do you think the Stokke Bag is overkill or still worthwhile?

Thank you all so much for such forthcoming info - hugely appreciated.

Depends how heavy your little one is. As ours (at that point was small-now at 10 weeks he is a fatty!) we left him in his car seat and carried him as he was asleep in that from the car and kept on sleeping until we boarded and gave up his car seat. Worked for us but we haven't tried it agAin-we are going to Jersey again this weekend but decided to take the ferry as we have far to much stuff!

We went cheap and just bought garden waste strong bin bags, wrapped bubble wrap around our bugaboo and taped it properly together.

There wasn't a scratch in the bag when it arrived.

Quite an old post but I thought it worth replying still

We have bought a bag from this company to take our pram abroad in, was really impressed with the quality of that product
