Can anyone recommend a nice restaurant for a family celebration (older kids) with good views in the Southbank area? Thanks

There's loads by royal festival hall
Strada or giraffe spring to mind.

Tube at embankment or charing cross and walk over bridge (lifts either end) or cross road from waterloo

Sky on is the one for views if price is not an issue.
I had a fun time in Ping Pong just down the side of the Royal Festival Hall. Dim sum- very nice lively atmosphere, fun food.

Giraffe is great for small kids. Very family friendly, good menu for kids, okay menu for adults, near the Thames- it's very popular.

If you have older kids, then Wagamama (my DD's favourite resteraunt, and mine) is great. Japanse food- not the sushi style, but ramen and stuff. It's got a MASSIVE menu and is great for kids and adults. Desserts are good too. Very authentic food, very delicious, great choices, but not the best view.
