Can anyone recommend somewhere to stay - apartment, small house, aparthotel? Would be with 5 and 6 yo boys.

You could see if there are any rentals listed on the Craiglist website for Boston, but you're in a doubly difficult situation - the long-distance element increases the likelihood of a scam, and your kids increase the likelihood of someone not wanting to rent to you. You could also try the City Data website.

Try the home away rentals website - I've found somewhere in new England through that, or the vrbo website.
