DCs 1 and 2 are renewals, DC3 is his first.

Any recent experience?

It took my renewal three weeks to process and this was just after the Easter holidays.

We applied for my son's first passport two and a half weeks ago and used the Post Office checking service..... still waiting for the passport and birth certificate to be returned to us.

Hmmm. I'm not sure which way to go with it.

Shall I just do check and send? Today? Shall I?

I did check and send for ds' renewal and I got it back in 2 weeks. I think first passports take longer.

I just did two renewals & they took 3 weeks. I handed them in at the post office for the pre-check thing.

I phoned up to check the status (which took 20 mins on the phone in the call queueing system) and they did say that the turnaround time is slower because of the high volume to process at the moment.

I think you can pay extra for a one week turn around service.

OneLittleBabyTerror · 03/07/2012 09:41

Took 3 weeks for my DD's first passport. Just received it last week.

OneLittleBabyTerror · 03/07/2012 09:42

This is with check and send btw.

BertieBotts · 03/07/2012 09:43

YY pay extra for the quicker one.

FredWorms · 03/07/2012 10:13

I've just made a appt for the fast-track service.

150 bloody quid extra, but it's our own stupid faults.

My sons renewal took 3 weeks, sent myself not check and send.

FredWorms · 03/07/2012 14:28

it's the first-time passport fot the youngest that I'm really worried about, spose we'll just have to fork out.

my DD's first took 4 and a half weeks - got it back 2 weeks ago. Used PO but they had to write to our countersig and that bit got delayed by the Queens Jubillee.

Think you're doing the right thing paying up for the fast-trak - it's cheaper than cancelling your hol cos you didnt get passport back in time!

FredWorms · 04/07/2012 11:26

Thanks loopy. It's good to know your DD's took so long as that justifies our extra expense for fast-track, iykwim Smile

Four passports sent Jun 16th received them back tues Jul 3rd. We had 3 renewals and a childs first passport, all came back together, documents came the next day.

AKMD · 05/07/2012 13:05

I see you've already gone for the fast-track route but to add my recent experience, DS's first passport was a turnaround time of 2 weeks and 3 days using check & send. It arrived the day before the Jubilee bank holiday.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 05/07/2012 13:09

My renewal and ds2 first took 8 days with check and send, but that was at Easter. It might be a bit longer now as everyone is getting ready for summer.

I think they estimate 2 weeks with check and send.
