Try this (with pool) www.kingfisher-barns.co.uk or these (no pool) www.sheephousemanor.co.uk or www.mapledurham.co.uk .

Or this (no pool, bit "rustic")www.tilfordwoods.co.uk.

Mapledurham is rural and isolated... but also very lovely...

why did you want selfcatering??

Sorry but no personal experience, Kingfisher Barns look nice though!

Hi Runmum.. we are opting for self catering as we want to do a few day trips round about and with three children who don't sleep that well..having the extra space will be great I certainly don't plan to cook a lot! Also staying in legoland hotels are expensive for 4 nights and we already have entrance tickets.

kingfisher barns are absolutely gorgeous -never stayed but visited the pool a few times with my clients (they hire pool out to local learning disability services sometimes)

The accomodation is nice (looked well equiped from the window!) - very safe for children and quite central to Abingdon. As a town its lovely and sits on the Thames. There's also a soft play area called Snakes and Ladders - very good. And a petting farm, called Farmer Giles, I think - highly recommended by my childminder.

It's a bit of a treck over to Windsor (M40, M4)but could just about do it in an hour if you don't get lost, but if legoland is only part of your break then Abingdon is the place to be. You'd also be close to Oxford if you have harry potter fans
