i've been waiting for ds replacement passport for over a month so called today as they say they won't help you if its less than a month. The bloke told me the computers were down for the last 14 hours and could i ring back another day? i know i can get an emergency passport for him but we plan to travel in europe to see relatives (we live abroad) so i can see disaster looming. plus the missing visa in his new replacement replacement passport will cause no end of trouble getting back in.

anyone know when their system might go back up? the bloke i spoke to seemed to think 14 hours wasn't so bad. and anyone else had this happen, ir no passport... they took the money a month ago.

Since your abroad have you tried the local British Consulate? We're in oz waiting for DH's replacement passport but thanks to lovely consulate we know passport has been printed and shipped four days ago.

they won't even take the call- its al done in germany. When i tried to call germany, they won't take the call either. they directed me to a customer care line which is outsourced and they have the computer down.

you are lucky- the service is dreadful, makes you wonder what they are actually doing. having tiffin and bemoaning the loss of the empire i guess.

what do you mean about a missing visa? You mean you won't have time to transfer the visa to his new passport?

If he has a visa in his old passport, just take both passports with you when you travel

hope you get the passport soon Smile

That is a bit rubbish. We did get the it's all done in the UK line too but persevered until we found someone willing to help.

Good luck.

Hey, Gracie. We live in Oz, and it took about 2 and a hlaf weeks for dd's passport to arrive from first applying for a replacement. Hth.
Op, I'd try the British Consulate too. A month sounds like a long time to wait for the replacement. I do hope you get and answer soon x

DH's has taken a bit longer than that but he lost his so had to go to "Validators" first. Thanks though.
