EuroCamping in France / Spain

We are finally starting to think about our summer holiday for 2012 and would appreciate all ideas!

We are a family of 5 (2 adults, 2 children, 1 infant).

I'm not a fan of flying & we enjoy taking the car with us and having days out, so going by ferry is a good option.

We went to Brittany, France with Venue holidays last year and had a brilliant time.
The year before that we went to Normandy, France with Pierre et Vacances holidays. That was a brilliant holiday too.

This year we'd like to do the camping holiday again, but would prefer to go to Spain for the weather and as Dh speaks spanish.

So, have any of you ever done a long ferry journey to Spain or stayed in any of the sites there?

Camping Cypsela is terrific nr Pals in Northern Spain. Eurocamp have the best plots there.

Thank you- I'll look in to that.

I've never yet driven to Spain, though this year we are staying in the Dordogne region right near the Spanish border and planning to do a few days at Portaventura near Barcelona at the end of the holiday. We've already been to Barcelona, so not bothered about actually going there again.

I love driving holidays too - far less stressful than flying and we've seen so many places! We've done Holland twice (Duinrell and another which was rather crappy), Germany (Heide park), Austria (Sportcamp Wolfgut), Italy twice, (Bella Italia and San Vito), Paris (right near a river and barges kept us awake all night!), and Provence in France (Pachacaïd).

Austria was actually one of the best, we got these really cheap passes that allowed us entry into lots of different places, such as beautiful mountain spas! Italy was beautiful, and we drove to Venice, Milan, Maranello, etc. Germany was a fab camp, lots of singing around the camp fire, bingo in german and hilarious entertainment.

Do check around, as Eurocamp aren't always the cheapest. We used them first, but then found that Keycamp was coming out cheaper, then last year we used Selectcamp (which I think is a dutch company) and this year we're using Canvas - mainly cos I won it in a competition!

tbh I am slightly nervous of my car in Spain!

We've dinged two hire cars on holidays there. One due to a TINY car park entrance, the other due to dh making a wrong turn onto a road which ended in the Mediterranean, and having no room to turn around! Driving in Barcelona I kept indadvertedly going through sneaky red lights. And once we nearly buried one on a beach in the middle of nowhere. Luckily a group of Spaniards helped us dig/push it out!

My friend has just taken a job for the summer managing some caravans on this site www.camping-le-ruisseau.fr/ she says it's an amazing campsite and keeps trying to get me and the DCs to go down. She pops across to Spain quite a lot as well and when I spoke to her last week while it was peeing down outside my window she said it was about 30 degrees there. Perfect.
