DH got me tickets for a concert and kid free weekend away for christmas.

This is sooooo much needed at the moment as have had stressful few months and DH and I have never been away together on our own, not even honeymoon!

Anyway, concert has fallen through so trying to find somewhere else to go where we will still have a lovely, special time

BUT budget not massive

Any ideas? PLEASE

Go up to Glasgow, stay overnight there. They have some quite pleasant b & bs near the Glasgow School Art for about £50 per room per night.

Fri 24th - sun 26th Feb

ah, being a Londoner I can't advise! Unless you want to come down here.....

freshstart · 17/02/2006 13:27

Would that not take like all weekend to get all the way down there!? ;)

nah, four or five hours in the car. You could bag some cheap flights to London City Airport. Do they fly from Newcastle to London? Must do.

Come on, come to the smoke!

Do you want city or countryside? are you thinking of bars / clubs or nice walks to little pubs?

Blu · 17/02/2006 13:41

Edinburgh? the Lake District?

tiredemma · 17/02/2006 13:44

what about leeds or york? lots of cheap hotels on Lastminute.com

i would recommend birmingham, but its too far to drive just for a weekend!

freshstart · 17/02/2006 13:47

I like york one of my faves and leeds is good too

i was hoping to fine personal recomendations because looking on laterooms and lastminute i have no idea which hotels are decent for the money iyswim

why not just get a travelodge or something?

travelodge

travel inn

ok, basic hotels but you could pick a city and book it hassle free, and at least you know what you are getting!

Have a look at www.tripadvisor.com for personal hotel recommendations.
