Anyone been to Corsica?

We have set ourselves the target of organising our holiday this week and are rather taken with Corsica. We would be going at the end of July with 3 children (10, 7 and 3).

We are thinking of one week, in a villa/cottage and hiring a car.

Has anyone any advice, tips, suggestions?

hey thanks, Marina. Were you staying down that end when you had that experience, or elsewhere on the island?

It was Calvi. Locals are well able to deal with it and the radio was warning the wind was due to hit the next day.
We never made it as far south as Bonifacio . I was so keen to go, as it looks so stunning down there, but from where we were staying in the mountains the second week, the only non-petrifying road was down into Ajaccio, and that one was bad enough
You are going to love that island so much...but I don't recommend heading for the hills in a Twingo - going down 1 in 3 gravelly hairpins in what feels like a roller skate, never knowing how many tame, huge pigs will be standing in the road round the next corner....woohoo. Alton Towers eat your heart out
