We are of to Bruges for a few days with the dc (7,5 and1) and I'm sure we will find lots to do. Any suggestions for activities or eating and anything unmissable in the surrounding area would be most welcome.

Boat trip round the canals, you should be able to spot the dog in a window that you see in the film In Bruges.
Go to the top of the tower. I will think on it.

Went there with my children a few months ago. Had horse-drawn carriage ride, canal trip, climbed up to the top of the Belfry, went to a few of the museums and cathedral (we had a pass so felt we could pop into a number of places and move on when the children tired). Chocolate museum ok. Had wonderful hot chocolates in cafes, and lots of waffles and frites. We all loved it. Have a great time!

Thanks . By 'ok' do you mean we should give the choc museum a miss? Did anyone get the boat to Damme?

Boudewijn Seapark is just outside Bruges and might make a good day out.

I went to Damme, and although I enjoyed it, I don't think small children would. Apart from the boat and the windmill.

I can second the horse-drawn carriage, plus the Christmas Shop and the shop where they make fruit rock in front of you.

Love Lake and the Convent are nice for a quietish walk (you) and a run about (kids)

Also: waffles, chips, chocolate etc. Indulge!
