What to do in Salisbury with 6 yr old?

I have to take DS to Salisbury hospital next week so I said we'd stay there for the day and do something nice. But what? I've been once, a couple of years ago but can't remember it well.

Any suggestions? Or places to eat? Is there an ASK? (I have vouchers!)

On Fisherton Street there's a cute little pottery place where you can paint plates, mugs, etc. Can't remember what it's called though! There's an ASK by the library (at the market place) plus there's a Wagamama, Pizza Express and Strada.

Thank you so much - that's really helpful. I'll google the pottery place.

Is parking easy? I did park and ride before but I don't know if that's a good option if we're coming from the hospital?

What day of the week? Market on Tuesdays so you can't park in the market place then. Otherwise the central car park behind the maltings is huge, you'll get in there.

Wednesday so no worries about the market then. Thank you. I'm quite excited! Apart from the hospital bit, obviously!

The hospital is in Odstock which is near Harnham, there's buses from there (I used to live in Harnham and it's an easy walk but possibly not with a 6yr old). Otherwise there's loads of parking; central carpark (follow signs for City Hall) is probably easiest. If the weather is nice there are a number of decent playgrounds, one near the central carpark, just next to Sainsburys, another in Elizabeth Gardens on the other side of town. Have fun!

Brilliant, thank you!

Just popping back to say thank you again. We wandered around the outside of the cathedral then went to the Salisbury museum, which was surprisingly good - loads of costumes to try on. We popped in to Mompesson House (have NT membership) then wandered along the river to Ask for lunch and a quick look in the shops before coming home. We've had a lovely day (apart from the hospital bit!)
