Tell me about "Camping" in France

Those holidays where the tent is all set up before you arrive.

I quite like the idea of sleeping under canvas, I like the idea of my DC (9 & 11) having the run of the site and I don't need luxury, but I do like clean facilities. We did some of these holidays when I was a child (30+ years ago) and at the larger sites in the South of France, showers and toilets were grim and you had to queue for them.

Is it still like that ?

How far South do you need to go to get reliable weather?

Hi
We stayed at Camping Indigo on Isle D'Oleron which is a touring campsite but they do have some static tents for hire. They looked fantastic and came fully equipped with beds, fridge etc.just like a house made of canvas!! The toilet blocks were always clean and lots for kids to do, pool, table tennis, park and space.

The weather was fantastic the whole time we were there.

Would recommend

We stayed at la garangeoire in the vendee. Booked with keycamp and found them great.

Taking our own tent this year and have booked with yelloh.

We have stayed in a tent with Eurocamp in Normandy and everything was fine. No queuing for toilets or showers at all. They were unisex though.
