EHIC - do you have to pay for them?

The only site DH can find is charging £15. It looks official but I don't remember paying the first time around

Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks

I have just looked for you as I am sure we did not pay for them.
If you go to www.ehic.org.uk. you can apply for free. On there it says that some others sites may charge.
Hope that helps

That helps a lot thanks. We've found it! Cheers.

No, I got new ones a couple of weeks ago and they are free.

Tell your DH not to just look at the first entry on Google; the official website for the EHIC is the NHS one about 4 entries down the page.

Many unofficial websites charge for this service which is infact free; am glad therefore you have found the correct website.

Ensure you have adequate travel insurance as well as the EHIC however as the EHIC is actually quite limited in scope.
