We're in a bit of a bind as we're mvoing to NYC and I need to go before the family, dh needs to stay a bit longer to finish up the house. We're thinking of using the BA skyflyer service. Children will be 5.5 and 8.5. I'm thinking they are a bit too young, at least the little one, but spoke to someone from BA who told em that it's very safe and that the kids are supervised all the time. So now I'm a bit torn. Any thoughts?

We have, but only short haul, and DS was more or less the age of your DC1. He was certainly very well looked after. I don't think I would send a 5yo on their own, but with an older sibling I think they would be fine, especially if they are used to flying long haul. That said, I probably wouldn't choose to send both of mine (4 year gap, DD is 5) yet if I could help it because I know DS would worry himself sick about being "in charge" of DD (even though he wouldn't be) - although by themselves they wouldn't squabble the way they ususally do, I don't think.

..so I guess it depends on your DC as to whether they would be happy. They would definitely be safe.

That's good to know. They're generally very good together and my 8 year old loves being 'in charge'.
