Why cant I get a cheap balearic's holiday?

Ive been trying to book a holiday for 2 adults and 1 infant flying sometime from beginning of may to 20th may. It needs to be between 10-14 nights and from cardiff.

Everyone ive looked at we seem to be getting charged a suppliment of £280 taking the price to £950!!!! surely this cant be right for 2 adults.

Probably underoccupancy charges. We found that when we tried to book 2 adults and 2 children into a 1 bed apartment - brochure prices were based upon 4 adults sharing so you end up making up the difference in supplements, or more, between the children's costs and the adult ones. We found it cheaper to book accommodation direct and the flights and car hire independently. Also regional flights tend to be more expensive than London based ones.

how about renting accommodation (eg from holidayrentals ) and booking flights yourselves?

Or this? Average £25 per day in May, and has flexible changeover day; and according to the flightchecker on moneysavingexpert you could fly round-trip Fri-Fri for under £100 each plus taxes, or out on Sun/back on Fri for £60 each plus taxes.
