First trip abroad with 8 month old daughter!

hi
As the title suggests I have just booked my first holiday abroad with my ( will be by then) 8 month old daughter!

I am after some advice about what to pack, how to deal with the flight ( only to Spain for a test run before longer haul flights lol), what to make sure is at the hotel etc.

As you probably guessed I have no experience of this and have nobody close who has done this. She is a very placid baby since being born, she is currently 4 months old.

I am weaning her from breast to formula so she will be on formula and food by then.

any advice or links to websites/threads that could help would be great :)

thanks in advance!

Check to see if there is a cot, if not get a travel one.
baby swimming costume, not a bikini, a totally covering one and hat. Swimming nappies are a must too. If not your baby has an arse the size of the Azores when her ordinarly one gets wet.
Her normal type of painkiller. I imagine paracetamol will be available, but normally it is a different flavour and if yours is like mine, will refuse it.

If bottle feeding, take a large tupperware container and sterilising tablets and a couple of bottles. You can fill the container with stuff so it takes up no more room in your case. I personally would take enough formula with you. I found the sachets handy when travelling. They will sell it in Spain, but no guarantee of getting your normal brand. I would ask about kettles/microwaves etc at the hotel.

2nd the swimming stuff. I would make sure you have a parasol, or scarf so you have the means to keep the pushchair in the shade - especially during nap times. Stacking cups are a great toy to have/take as they take up no room, can be used indoors, in the bath, in the pool, on the beach in a variety of different ways. Ours are VERY well travelled. We had an inflatable pool ring/seat thing when dd was about that age, so she could bob round in the water. Plenty of sun hats, light clothing.
