I'm currently trying to organise a couple of nights in Dublin as a 70th birthday present for the in-laws. Any nice central hotel recommendations would be much appreciated.

hermykne, you seem to know Dublin well (do you live there?). I'm going to put together a little file for them with restuaurant etc recommendations. Any more apart from the Thai already mentioned? Great help, thanks.

They like good food but they're also quite thrifty and wouldn't want to pay through the nose for a meal in a overly trendy place. Something hearty and traditional would be good.
