Recommendations welcome - one hour from West London

Hi, anyone have a quick recommendation for a nice Sunday out with a 4 year old and 2 year old less than one hour drive from West London? We fancy getting out of london, maybe a pretty village, small town, castle, anything that doesn't involve 45 pound entry fee!!!

Have you been to Barnes Wetland centre?

A really cheap nice afternoon is The Pheansanty at Bushy Park, DCs can run around, scoot, feed the ducks etc and then there is a nice cafe for a cup of tea and cake too and won't break the bank. Not really a day out though, more of an afternoon.
