Ideas for active holidays with teens / pre-teens?

Can anybody recommend good places to go for a family holiday with lots of sporty activities to keep them amused?

Many of the alpine resorts have programmes of climbing, white water rafting, hiking etc for kids/teens and families - Esprit, Neilson et al offer group actviities. We recently went to Lake Garda which had windsurfing, sailing and canoeing etc on the lake(north side best), very well set up for cycling and mountain biking, canyoning and white water rafting and Via Ferrata climbing routes. In UK likes fo PGL and Youth Hostel association do similar or you could go to Wales or Cornwall to do coastal actviities such as surfing and coasteering.

Center Parcs. It has just about every sporting activity you can think of and then some. Plus the swimming pool is fab with wild water rapids, waves and lots of slides. I've only been to the ones in the UK but they do have Center Parcs in Europe aswell and they are supposed to be just as fab and also a bit cheaper.

Second an Alpine holiday - to add to LIZS list - swimming in high altitude lakes, high wiring, staying over night in a remote Refuge, horse riding etc. You can go with the operators as a package or it is just as easy to research and book the activities yourself directly on a day by day basis.

You can either go with them or send them on their own to a PGL holiday up to age 16. My kids absolutely love them and you can go as a family as well. they offer a couple of activities every day.
