Tanfield railway - North Pole express

Just wondered if anyone has visited Tanfield railway (Gateshead/Tyne & Wear way) & been on the North Pole express at Christmas time? How was it, is it worth the money?

Thinking about booking it for DS1 (4 yrs).

Thanks

I've been on the railway for afternoon tea. The last time was Easter and the Easter bunny was there handing out eggs to the kids. It's a lovely day out as you can get off, have a wee walk then get back on again. All run by volunteers so I feel like my ticket money goes to a good cause. Much better than any corporate shopping mall Santa i'd say!

Thanks for the reply.

I took DS1 (4) and DS2 (2) on the train last week & they enjoyed that. Didn't get off anywhere though as the weather wasn't that great. We did see the carriage having afternoon tea & it looked lovely!

When you put it like that about the ticket money I suppose it is worth it - better get booked up ASAP.
