Anyone been to Sofia, Bulgaria?

Planning a 4-5 day break at end of September for me and DP (no kids). Would like to know if anyone has visited Sofia and if so, any recommendations for hotels/restaurants/things to do/general tips

Yes i have been , and its very nice . Went skiing to there which was fab.
It has its own Eastern European charm... especially when the snow is falling.
Didnt stay in Sofia so no idea bout hotels there though.
Cheaper than western Europe...
