Last minute Portuguese villa- chances/leads????

Want to go in early August- have left it far too late. We want a villa in the Algarve in walking distance of beach/town type place. Have trawled internet and they all look too complexy type thing or in the hills and needing a car. Any ideas wise ones?

Would advise to avoid anywhere overly touristy, eg Vilamoura, Albufeira, if you don't want to stay anywhere too complex-ey.

Also if you are willing to stay in an apartment you are more likely to get somewhere central in towns/villages, most villas are in out of town complexes.

When I looked recently there were villas in Manta Rota and Altura. These are walking distance to the beach and not too touristy.
