Cheddar with a 5yr old - Wookey Hole? What else?

I went to Wookey Hole about 25 years ago and from their website it has changed drastically.

Is it worth taking DS there or are there other caves (less commercial) I can take him to?

What else should we do?

DH and I went for a day out in that area last summer, fully intending to go to Wookey Hole. When we got there, we took one look at the admission price and got back in the car. It really is extortionate. Because of this, I can't really tell you if it's worth it or not...

I can, however, recommend Cheddar Gorge Caves which are just up the road a bit. They give you a recorded tour guide thingy with the best West Country accent you've ever heard!

There are also loads of nice walks in that area.

I wondered about Cheddar Gorge Caves instead. Wookey Hole seems ridiculous - I want DS to see caves, not go to a theme park which the WH website makes it look like. Thank you
