Ideas on enertaining 17 month old on a plane!?

Hi, We are having our first holiday with DD in two weeks and I'm getting a little anxious about the flight! It's her first flight and she is likely to be awake for the full duration (approx 3 hours). We are just going easy jet so I'm assuming they wont offer any kind of entertainment (TV,colouring packs etc)

I've bought a couple of little books for her to 'read', and some crayons for scribbling. I'm trying to find some packs of stickers, but does anyone have any other ideas? She very much likes her freedom and I know she will want to spend a fair bit of time wandering the ailses (sp?) I just don't want her to get bored and start disturbing the other passengers!

Thanks!

Playdough- then you can play making food etc?

I took DD on various flights between 12 & 24 months, and always took several things, eg. A snack, a new peppa pig magazine, a book, one toy. DD once spent the whole flight putting her sock in a paper cup and taking it out again - no interest in toys! Another time an 'aqua paint' toy worked well.

And I always make her do as much running in the airport as possible to get tired.

We recently survived an 11hr flight each way with DS (18ms). I was v worried for months beforehand, as he's v physical (and stubborn!), and he wasn't even going to have his own seat, but it was fine in the end. I think it's a truism that the motion and the new surroundings do subdue them quite a bit anyway, and then lots of tellytubbies episodes on the ipad, coupled with a few new bits and pieces (threading cheerios onto pipe cleaners was a HUGE success!) led to time passing pretty quickly.

We take a portable DVD player, and lots of Peppa/Fifi/Humf. The sound of the plane blocks out the noise for other passengers. Play dough also a winner. A bottle and blanky also handy as they flake out after all the drama of the airport. Note: to avoid having to wake them in turbulance/landing keep the seatbelt on all the time!!

Thanks for all the suggestions! I got some bargain play doh type stuff from mothercare, and will make sure my itouch is fully charged so she can watch some Handy Manny!

having experience 12 hours on a plane with my 2 year old I can honestly say it was nowhere near the journey from hell I expected. Lots of short TV progs on an iphone or similar, a steady supply of food handy, buy a little cheap toy at the airport for a novelty which'll certainly fill 30 mins or so and finally a couple of new kids magazines, crayons, books etc wrapped up and then opened on the plane will get them concentraing on you not the hair of the man in front or wandering down the aisle! Good luck
